Hong Kong too dangerous for Deaf Games

Organisers of the Asia Pacific Deaf Games have decided Hong Kong is too dangerous for the games to be held there so they have cancelled three weeks out.

More than 70 deaf Australian athletes were due to compete in sports including football, basketball, tennis, athletics and swimming from 1-11 November.

We feel for the athletes who had been honing their skills and improving their fitness for peak performances at these games.

The Asia Pacific Deaf Games are deaf multi-sport events established in 1984 and held every 4 years in the Asia Pacific region.

Our thoughts are with the brave people of Hong Kong.
