The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has been investigating the safety of button batteries and whether regulation is required under the Australian Consumer Law to address their hazards.
Button batteries are used in hearing devices.
ACCC have now released a Button Batteries – Issues Paper for consultation. Submissions on this consultation close 5pm 30 September 2019.
