2018 federal government budget

There is nothing specific that will benefit people with hearing loss in the new Federal Government budget.

It is a joyless budget for people living on the breadline, including young people with hearing loss on New Start and also those on a disability support pension, with no increases to the subsistence funding for these groups.

The National Disability Strategy received no funding and this could signal its downgrading from a national government strategy to an unfunded Department of Social Services program.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme has guaranteed funding but only for 12 months and the promise of short term future funding in following years.  This is hardly an assurance of its continued financial sustainability.
