Work Centre

People who are hearing impaired, have disorders of the ear or are Deaf have consistently advised us that they are able to work and more importantly, that they want to work and contribute fully to Australia’s economic future.

However, despite Australia experiencing significant economic growth over the past decade and with demand for labour increasing, the rate of employment of people with disability is significantly lower than for their peers without a disability and this statistical measure has barely moved during this time.

The looming challenge of Australia’s ageing population and the fiscal imperative to increase labour force participation rates, means it is time for the Australian Government to implement bold, innovative strategies and solutions that will actually increase employment opportunities for people who are hearing impaired, deaf or have a chronic ear disorder.
